Laparoscopic Gastric Plication now being offered at NYU Langone Weight Management Program

July 07, 2011

Laparoscopic Gastric Plication (“LGP”) is an alternative restrictive weight loss operation which is similar to sleeve gastrectomy without cutting the stomach. This procedure creates a small sized stomach by folding the stomach twice into itself vertically without an implant or staples. Therefore, this new procedure reduces the risk of leak and possible subsequent infection which can lead to death.

This procedure limits the amount of food you can eat by making you feel full quickly and less hungry. It can be performed in about an hour.
