Established in 2005 by the J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Foundation, the mission of HOPE at NYU is to fight childhood obesity with science. HOPE is committed to reversing this serious, costly, and preventable public health problem by developing, testing, and disseminating evidence-based interventions for overweight and obese youth and their families. HOPE provides effective solutions to combat childhood obesity on a national basis and promotes healthy living strategies to children, families, professionals and policymakers.Information Sessions

FREE Nutrition Series!
Your next nutrition workshops will take place on Thursday May 21st 2009 and Tuesday May 26th 2009.
The theme is "Healthy Happy Hour" and we will cover the following topics:
* How to have a night out on the town without blowing your diet
* The best and worst cocktails for your waistline
* How to make your favorite high calorie drinks "skinny"
* Myths and Facts about alcohol consumption and bariatric surgery
The program is free for our patients, but space is limited so please RSVP as soon as possible!
Workshops run from 6-7 pm; please see attached flyer for location information.
Have Your Follow-Up Care Closer to Home
Follow-up is critical to your success after surgery. In order to better accommodate our patients we have opened offices in Brooklyn, New City (Rockland County) and Westchester!

Support Groups
Support groups are held in a relaxed setting where individuals who have undergone weight loss surgery or who are thinking about it can meet others to discuss similar issues.
Support groups are led by a dedicated social worker.
